SUBJECT:
Left Turn Signal Feed To Trailer Tow Connector Inoperative

MODELS:
1996 (ZJ) Grand Cherokee

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The left turn signal feed to the trailer tow harness may be missing a circuit. This may cause the left turn signal on an attached trailer to be inoperative.

DIAGNOSIS:
If complaints are received indicating that the left turn signal is inoperative and no current is available at the trailer tow connector, perform the Repair Procedure.

PARTS REQUIRED:

1    4883430AA      Jumper Harness

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
This bulletin involves installing a jumper harness in the left quarter panel.

1. Remove the spare tire.

2. Remove the left quarter trim panel.

3. Locate the gray six way lighting harness connector which is fastened to the inner sheet metal.

4. Unplug the connector

5. Connect the jumper harness, P/N 4883430AA, to the gray six way on the lighting harness and clip the jumper harness to the sheet metal. Connect the other end of the jumper to the gray six way on the body harness.

6. Locate the black trailer tow connector over the center of the left wheel well. Remove the yellow locking wedge from the connector.

7. Route the wire from the jumper harness along the main bundle to the trailer tow connector and insert the terminal into cavity 4 in the insulator. (See Illustration) Make sure to fully seat the terminal in the insulator.

8. Tape the wire to the harness to secure it.

9. Install the quarter trim panel.

10. Install the spare tire.
